Knots and Leaves
Oh where do I start with what this piece means to me?
I bought this slab of cedar years ago from an antique shop, loving it's unique shape and bark, the knots and the cracks. I couldn't bring myself to touch it for years out of fear of messing it up. That's the reality of perfectionism, isn't it? Just sitting and waiting for the right time, which may never come. One day I picked it up and started drawing without a plan, thinking of the tree from which it came and nothing else. It became clear to me that this tree wanted to teach me to let go, ignore the cracks, and turn it into to something that shines. The metal leaf shimmers in the light. I hope when you look at it, that it serves as a reminder to just BE, and let yourself be messy and imperfect. And that you don't need to see the whole path laid out before you take the next step🌿
